2018 National Trust Purbeck Events

We would love you to come and volunteer with us and make a difference through our weekend groups, please see below for details:

 COASTODIANS

 You could help our beach rangers monitor coastal change; or record the wildlife you see on your favourite walk.  You could become an ambassador for your local patch and inspire others to care for the coast.

 The group meets at 10.30 on the third Sunday of every month.

 Please meet us outside the Discovery Centre at Knoll Beach, Studland to help clear litter from the beach, followed by another coastal activity. The day usually finishes around 3.30. You don’t have to stay for the whole session, but if you do, please bring some lunch with you.

 ‘MEET THE RANGER’

 Drop in countryside conservation group (usually runs 10.30-3.30 but you can “drop-in” as the group always meets on site).  Tasks vary but include scrub clearing, coppicing, pond clearance etc.

 The group meets on Saturdays every six weeks at various locations, carrying out practical countryside conservation tasks 10.30 – 3.30.   Volunteers are welcome to come and go as they please. Tea and coffee provided. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

 Next meeting 25th August

 Task: Installing Dragons Teeth near Scotland Farm. We will be removing an old section of fence, clearing the ground, and then installing a set of wooden posts; also known as Dragon’s teeth next to a gated access point to improve the presentation of the area and restrict parking in order to protect the grass.

Site location: Scotland Farm near New Mills heath. Parking is available outside Scotland Farm, roadside on the Norden to Slepe road, OS Grid ref: SY 961 841.

All tools and gloves provided as usual…. Tasks are run by Aemelia Roe, Ranger, who can be contacted on 07917 456808.

 BOURNEMOUTH NATIONAL TRUST VOLUNTEERS

 Or if you’d like to give our Corfe Castle countryside volunteer tasks a try, come and help us care for the countryside around Corfe Castle, meet new people and get some fresh air and exercise.  Bournemouth National Trust Volunteers join our rangers one Sunday a month, and it’s a great opportunity for you to get involved too!  Have a look at the BNTV website www.bournemouth-ntv.org.uk.

 Meeting at 10am at Castle View car park, finishing approximately 3.30pm although tasks are usually within walking distance of the car park so you can leave when you wish. You will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear, your own lunch and plenty to drink.  Mainly practical tasks around Corfe, like scrub clearance, fencing, etc., although the group will also be undertaking some surveying.
